Song Joong-ki Migrating into Movies with Romantic Comedy

Song Joong-ki Migrating into Movies with Romantic Comedy

Just four years into his acting career, Song Joong-ki's star is in the ascendant, and the handsome young actor who briefly appeared as a young King Sejong in the SBS drama "Deep-Rooted Tree" is soaking up praise from fans and critics alike.

But he hasn't let the growing fame get to his head, and showbiz figures often express surprise at his humility and polished manners.

"Penny Pinchers," which is scheduled to be released on Thursday, marks Song's debut on the silver screen. He plays a starring role along with actress Han Ye-seul.

"I wanted to play in a romantic comedy, so I was fortunate to be offered this project for my debut," he said.

With "Deep-Rooted Tree," Song has exhibited his charm, which makes women swoon, even among those in middle-age. "Anybody who played the role would have received as much praise as I did, because the script is so well written. I just thank my lucky stars to be part of it," he said.

As the dashing actor's mischievous smile is one of his distinctive traits, it begs the question: is this natural or rehearsed, inherent or just another part of the act and another arsenal in his weaponry to disarm the opposite sex?

"I don't practice my facial expressions, although people say I have a lot of different faces," said the 26-year-old. "Of course, that's not to say I don't spend time looking in the mirror!"

He said he hopes to develop his range of acting skills to continue his acting career.

"I had a chance to watch veteran actor Han Suk-kyu acting in person while shooting the soap, and he expressed so many things not written in the script. I would love to be able to do that, but I think I'm still a little green as an actor."
